Caldwell Ledgers Transcription: August 2019
The ledger transcriptions were all undertaken by a small group of dedicated volunteers. The database was set up with the intention of transcribing the orders in ledgers 2, 3, 6 and 7, which are all from the 1790s, plus ledgers 8, 9 and 10 which are from periods in the 1820s and 1830s. These have all been done, although some pages in ledger 3 have not been transcribed as they are undated and, for the most part, uncosted.

We added a new layout to enable us to transcribe the cashbooks (ledgers 11, 12 and 13). There is also cashbook information at the back of ledger 7, but we are unable to transcribe these pages as the ledger is already being used in the database layout.

There are also ledgers which would require yet another layout. These are ledger 1 (sales ledger at Knowsley); ledger 4 (early sales ledger from Knutsford); ledger 5 (purchase ledger from early 20th century); ledger 14 (wages book from mid-19th century) and ledgers D7802/1 and D7802/3 which are also from the early 20th century. There are currently no plans to transcribe these.
